A champagne toast to all of you who have read my blog.
Hard to believe that we left here on March 11th for Beijing and yesterday we flew home from London Heathrow airport 83 days later. The cruise far exceeded our expectations in about every way: the ship, the crew, our fellow passengers (many of which were old friends), the amazing itinerary which included 23 countries and 51 different ports, the ancient history of these countries, and the people who lived there.
I know we will be asked (already have been) which was our favorite place? That's so difficult to answer. Bethlehem & Jerusalem are right at top do to the religious significance and also Great Wall of China. I enjoyed Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar also. Sri Lanka and the part of India (Bombay and south of there) I could have certainly done without.
Our next trip is a driving one. We have a house rented in Durango, Colorado, for the month of July. Why you say? We want to get out of the Dallas summer heat AND we want to see some of our own country. We will be taking side trips to the beautiful National Parks in southern Utah. Our son, Jeff and Tae-young, his wife, will be visiting us as well as some other friends. I bought Rebecca an new Lexus ES 350 the end of November and it only has 784 miles on it right now. Need to get it broken in! Our next cruise is on Royal Caribbean in October. It is a 7 day Barcelona to Barcelona (Med cruise) back to back with a 13 day transatlantic cruise to Miami for a total of 20 days. We will be cruising with my son and daughter-in-law so will be very special.
Our next Regent cruise will be on the Seven Seas Mariner next January for 62 days around South America again but this one will go from Rio, Brazil to Barcelona so have some sea days too. We have also just booked a 26 day cruise for next summer on the Seven Seas Voyager again in the Norwegian Fjords and Baltic. Going to Russia!!
I want to add some links of photos mainly for me, but also for you. I sincerely hope you have enjoyed my "story" and photos. I worked hard on it and spent countless hours on the ship's slow internet. I'll let you know when I will be doing my next blog. Bye!
Photos of the crew and our friends. You will have to cut & paste them to your browser to view.
