CRUISING IN MEDITERRANEAN SEA

Wednesday, May 15th
Our position at noon today (red circle with yellow arrow).  Sunny skies and 69F.  Some swells today.

I published yesterday's Athens post this morning and am trying to get this one out also.  Our Captain warned us last night that we may encounter some swells around 3am so I put half of a patch on.  It was not bad but still having a bit of movement from swells.  Mediterranean looks smooth though.
We are enroute to Taoramina, Sicily, where we will be docking tomorrow morning.  We have already been to the gym for our workouts and will be ordering salad from room service shortly for our lunch.  Tonight we have been invited to join the Captain and social hostess for dinner at the "Captain's Table".  After all these years it is not one of our favorite things to do but hard to say no since we know him.  On big ships we would have turned the invitation down.
As I mentioned on an earlier segment of our cruise they had "National Public Radio" personalities on board as lecturers.  This segment we have "Public Broadcasting System" personalities on board lecturing.  We wish Regent would not do this.  I could care less about hearing how a sitcom is written and produced.  The other night they had one of these lectures at 9:30pm in theater instead of a show.  Will write it up on my critique!  Tonight there is a show.  Ray Solaire, our cruise director, is a good singer and also a ventriloquist.  He has several large sized puppets and his show is very good.  We'll head to the show after with our Captain.
Tomorrow in Sicily we will be "tendering" (using life boats to go ashore) as they is no dock.  I hope the wind conditions and swells will allow the use of tenders.  We missed the stop at Galle, Sri Lanka due to unsafe sea conditions for tendering.
Bill and Rose from Washington DC.  They were also on our 2010 world cruise.  They are big Dallas Cowboys fans despite living in Redskins country.  This photo from dinner with them over a week ago.
