ROME, ITALY

Saturday, May 18th
This is island of Capri where we spent yesterday as we sailed away yesterday evening.
Civitavecchia today which is the port for Rome
Civitavecchia is the port city for Rome.  Rome is about an hour and half drive from here.  The passengers continuing on to Southhampton were offered a bus to and from downtown Rome today but we (and most of our friends) have elected not to go.  Why?  Because we have been to Rome several times, and as recently as last fall.  Plus it has been a very quiet ship this morning.  There are at least another 5 cruise ships here today also disembarking and embarking passengers like us.
We both went to the gym this morning and have just returned from having lunch up in La Veranda (buffet).  It is a beautiful day and temperature at noon was only 67F.  Below is two photos taken from our balcony of Civitavecchia, port city.

Today we are trying to schedule dinners with friends for our last cruise segment.  Yes, only 14 days left!  We have contacted some of the Jean Ann Ryan singers and dancers as want to dine with some of them.  So far we have heard from Julia (singer) and Keeva (dancer) and they will be dining with us on Monday.  Still waiting to hear back from Ron (other singer) and his girl friend, Alex (another dancer).  Goren, Food & Beverage Manager, also wants to dine with us again.  Then we have lots of passengers we want to have dinner with before we go our separate ways in Southhampton.
This evening we have another life boat safety drill.  Getting real tired of doing it.  Tonight we are dining with John & Bobbie.  John is a retired Cathay Pacific pilot and she is a retired flight attendant for same airline.  We will be sailing tonight for our next port which is Monte Carlo in the small country of Monaco.  The Grand Prix race is there this weekend so they are not letting us dock in the city.  We will be anchoring in town nearby instead.  Bummer!  We had an 8 hour tour scheduled for tomorrow but just cancelled it.  We have requested another tour though which is only 4 hours.  We have been to Monte Carlo before back in fall of 2011.  We have been seeing on Fox News where they are having some problems there now due to Grand Prix.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.
